A (French) comics about Waterloo

And now for Waterloo! See the new series posted by Alfons Cánovas: Waterloo (La chute de l'aigle) by Liliane and Fred Funcken

Be careful. The Alfons's numbering system is somewhat... unpredictable

  1. Great cartoon Rafa - thanks for finding and posting these gems. That dirty rotten spy shot the messenger to Grouchy and changed history! Well, according to Fred & Lillane Funcken anyway. Its really well drawn and I recognised the authors - I still have the original French publication of their "Uniforms and Armies of the Soldiers of the 1st Empire". They were some of the first books I got on Napoleonic uniforms that started my fascination (OK - obsession!) with collecting and gaming the period over 30 years ago!

  2. Hi Doc. I don't own the Waterloo book, but the Spanish translation of the Funcken's Uniforms book and some boxes of Napoleonic Airfix plastics were my introduction to the wargaming 30 years ago!

  4. Ditto Doc and Ian's comments, it is great that you find and post these gems Rafa!

"Funcken's Uniforms book and some boxes of Napoleonic Airfix plastics were my introduction to the wargaming 30 years ago!"--a very similar story for me Rafa, and I suspect numerous other (Napoleonic) wargamers. Were Bruce Quarrie's rules the first set that you used too?
