The battle of Reichenbach is over!
After a fierce rearguard action, the pursuing French - led by Napoleon himself - have been stopped by the Russian Wurttemberg's rearguard. The Russians did inflict more casualties on the French and have mauled the Old Guard Light Cavalry including the famous Chasseurs à Cheval (Mamelouks included!) and the Red Lanciers.
The Lanciers de Berg, attached to the Old Guard (see the attached image) were at last routed by Russian Dragoons and only the vigilant Old Guard Gendarmes saved again (see previous post) the situation ).

The Old Guard at Reichenbach

A very interesting action did take place during the on-going re-fight of Reichenbach:
An intrepid Russian Dragoon Regiment charged the Old Guard Volante horse artillery, defended only by an understrength, and battle weary, Old Guard Chevaux-Leger Lancier Brigade.
Fortunately for the French, a Brigade of Old Guard Gendarmes was alert, and charged the imprudent Russians in their flank, fully routing them!
I am still fighting the battle in my spare time. The launching of ALKAID magazine (see previous post) and the development of the ALKAID internet portal is consuming almost all my holidays time!

Launching of ALKAID

Alkaid, a new multithematic quarterly magazine in spanish, is in the street.
The new magazine is directed to intelligent readers and tries to conjugate as different fields as science, environment, poetry, wargames…
In the next weeks an internet portal, http://www.alkaidediciones.com/, will be also operative. This accompanying web site will include, in addition to other stuff, three Forums about poetry, environment and wargames.
This last will be a bilingual (english-spanish) Forum and will be focused on the wargaming with miniatures, so watch this space!
